Canine Behaviour Consultant

Specialising  in Rescue Dogs, Anxiety, Aggression & Reactivity

My goal is to teach guardians how to train their dogs and to get the most out of their relationship.

"Having spoken to numerous trainers, dog walkers, vets and other ‘experts’ in the dog world, Karolina was the only one who seemed to really understand the issues we were having. She picked up on things others had not, which resulted in a huge behaviour change in our dog. Karolina has a calm and measured approach and she is very easy to work with. I would definitely recommend her!"

Remote vs In Person?

Not based in Berkshire? No problem! Remote coaching is available worldwide, and is sometimes even more effective than in person coaching. Benefits of remote coaching:

A Comfortable and Safe Environment for Your Dog

Reactive and anxious dogs often struggle with new environments or unfamiliar people. By conducting sessions remotely, your dog remains in their familiar home setting, reducing stress and allowing them to focus better on learning. This approach minimizes the risk of triggering unwanted behaviors that can occur when a new person enters their space.

Empowering You as the Primary Trainer

Remote sessions place you at the center of your dog's training journey. Without the physical presence of a trainer, your dog learns to respond directly to you, strengthening your bond and ensuring that the progress made is sustainable in the long term. This setup also allows me to observe and guide you in real-time, ensuring you're confident in implementing techniques effectively.

Flexible Scheduling and Access to Resources

Life can be hectic, and finding time for in person sessions might be challenging. Remote consultations offer flexibility, allowing us to schedule sessions that fit your routine. Additionally, you can unlimited access to written & vide notes, as well as daily whatsapp support to use whenever you choose.

Enhanced Observation of Natural Behaviours

Observing your dog's behaviour in their natural environment provides invaluable insights. Remote sessions allow me to see how your dog interacts within their daily setting through videos, leading to more accurate assessments and tailored strategies that address the root causes of behavioural issues.

FAQs

Q: What areas do you cover for dog behaviour and training services? A: I work with clients remotely all over the world via online consultations. For in-person sessions, I’m based in Berkshire, UK, and cover areas within a 30-minute radius of GU47. Travel fees apply for locations outside this area.

Q: How do your dog behaviour and training sessions work? A: I offer both remote and in person sessions for a range of behaviour issues; such as reactivity, aggression, anxiety, and fear, as well as training goals like recall and other essential life skills. You can choose from monthly support packages for ongoing guidance or one-off sessions, ideal for top-ups or first aid advice. Our work together begins with an initial consultation to assess what’s going on and build a tailored plan that suits your lifestyle. This first session is typically held remotely, as it allows me to assess behaviour more accurately using video footage. If needed, it can be done in person following an initial chat. Ongoing support is delivered 1:1, either remotely or in person depending on your location and the nature of the issue; some behaviours, like separation anxiety, are best addressed remotely.

Q: What training methods do you use? A: I use motivation and choice based training methods, including desensitisation and counter conditioning. This means teaching your dog to cooperate without any force and focusing on rewarding the behaviours we want to see more of. Rewards are tailored to what your dog finds most motivating; this could be treats, toys, play, praise, sniffing, access to space, or opportunities to engage with the environment. By making the learning experience positive and relevant to your dog, we build lasting behaviour change that fits into everyday life.

Q: How long will it take to see results? A: This varies depending on the behaviour we're addressing, your dog's history, and how consistently the training is applied. Some issues may show improvement within a few sessions, while others, like separation anxiety or complex fear-based behaviours, require longer term support. We'll discuss realistic expectations during your initial consultation.

Q: Do you offer support between sessions? A: Yes. My monthly support packages include ongoing guidance between sessions via WhatsApp. This ensures you're supported as you implement your training plan and can ask questions or share updates along the way.

Q: How much do your sessions cost? A: Prices vary depending on the type of support that’s best suited to you and your dog. I offer both one off sessions and ongoing monthly support packages, tailored to your goals and your dog’s individual needs. Because every case is different, I recommend getting in touch so we can chat about the most suitable option for you. I’ll always be upfront about costs and help you choose a plan that works for your situation.

Terms & Conditions

1. Bookings & Payments All bookings must be made online via our scheduling system before sessions are confirmed. Full payment is required at the time of booking. Prices are subject to change; however, any confirmed bookings will always be honoured at the price paid. 2. Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refunds Cancellations made with at least 48 hours’ notice are eligible for a refund minus a 3% Stripe processing fee, which is non-refundable to us by the payment provider. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the session are non-refundable, except in special circumstances (such as emergencies involving the dog or the client). These will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Sessions may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice or in special circumstances, subject to availability. Failure to attend a session without notice (“no-shows”) will not be refunded. If The Positive Canine must cancel for any reason, a full refund with no fees deducted will be provided, or the session can be rescheduled. 3. Training Philosophy The Positive Canine exclusively uses positive reinforcement, force-free training methods. Aversive tools and techniques (including but not limited to: choke chains, prong collars, spray bottles, pet correctors, E-collars, or any physical/psychological intimidation) are not used, recommended, or permitted in our sessions. We are happy to support clients who wish to transition away from aversive methods to more ethical, science-based approaches. 4. Client & Dog Participation All dogs must be accompanied and handled by a responsible adult (18+ years old). Children are welcome to attend and participate where appropriate, under the supervision of their parent or guardian. We may recommend a veterinary health check prior to starting training if there are concerns about medical factors influencing behaviour. 5. Training Commitment & Expectations Behaviour change, especially for complex issues like reactivity, separation anxiety, or resource guarding, takes time and consistent effort beyond the training sessions. The Positive Canine cannot guarantee specific results within a set number of sessions. Success depends on factors including the dog’s history, individual progress, and the client’s commitment to the training plan. 6. Liability & Safety The Positive Canine holds appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Participation is at the client’s own risk. Clients are responsible for ensuring that their dog’s environment is safe and suitable for training. Clients must inform us of any known behavioural or medical concerns prior to sessions. 7. Consumer Rights Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, as training services are booked for specific dates, the usual 14-day cooling-off period does not apply once a booking is made and confirmed. By booking, you agree to these terms and acknowledge that the right to cancel without cost is limited to the timeframes stated above. 8. Privacy & Data Protection The Positive Canine complies with GDPR and will only use your personal information for the purposes of providing training services. Your data will not be shared with third parties without your consent, except where required by law. 9. Amendments to Terms The Positive Canine may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Any changes will not affect existing confirmed bookings but will apply to all new bookings made after the update.
